1。第一部：1978年出品的《霍比特人》
这是好莱坞首次努力制作的以托尔金作品中土世界为蓝本的霍比特人，一部魔戒前传的动画片，它发行于1978年，这部动画片比另两个动画：魔戒和国王归来的影响力还大，其中甘道夫的配音由好莱坞著名导演John Huston亲自抄刀，精灵国王的配音由导演Otto Preminger 负责，史麦葛的配音由Richard Boone 打造。
这部动画片风行于20世纪70年代末，换句话说，几乎所有的人物都遵循原著原形，但其中有几首电影歌曲是专门为中土世界的孩子们谱曲的，这就是十分流行的著名漫画家托尔金世界的国王归来。
