Record created on 26-Aug-2004.
Domain servers in listed order:
NS1.PENDINGRENEWALDELETION.COM 205.178.190.51
NS2.PENDINGRENEWALDELETION.COM 206.188.198.51
It is claimed to have been renewed and all good to go; however, the renewal may take up to 48 hours to take effect. If you are a die hard player, this may be unacceptable, and there are some work arounds. First, let's check to see if your ISP has updated their list. This is the best and least complicated patch option.
To do this, you must:
{Start} → search for "cmd.exe" → right click → run as administrator → ipconfig /flushdns [Enter]
Then you may try to load the game. If that works for you, stop here and go have fun playing. Otherwise, the next thing to try is to add a pointer to Google's domain which has updated for ddo and may act like a repeater to get you in. To do this:
{Start} → search for "notepad.exe" → right click → run as administrator → [Ctrl]-[o] → In the box that says 'Filename' type "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts" where 'C' is your hard drive (may be another letter, but it is 'C' 95% of the time, and if it was something else, you probably would know it). → click the 'Open' button → now, at the bottom of the page add '8.8.4.4' and 8.8.8.8 so that it looks something like:
# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
#
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
#
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
#
# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
# 127.0.0.1 localhost
# ::1 localhost
8.8.4.4 # Google
8.8.8.8 # Google
Now you will need to press [Ctrl]- → click 'File' ⇒ 'Exit' → {Start} → search for "cmd.exe" → right click → run as administrator → ipconfig /flushdns [Enter]
Then you may try to load the game. If that works for you, stop here and go have fun playing. Otherwise, the next thing to try is to add pointers to DDO's servers directly. A warning about this, you WILL want to remove this in a couple days once everything is back to normal (or at least comment it out in case you still have a problem). or you may run into issues again later. To add pointers directly to the DDO servers:
{Start} → search for "notepad.exe" → right click → run as administrator → [Ctrl]-[o] → In the box that says 'Filename' type "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts" where 'C' is your hard drive (may be another letter, but it is 'C' 95% of the time, and if it was something else, you probably would know it). → click the 'Open' button → now, at the bottom of the page you will need to add some lines to make your file look like:
# Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
#

Here's a work-around and it does work:
go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts, open it up with a text editor, and add these lines
